Deleting a branch is permanent. Although the deleted branch may continue to exist for a short time before it actually gets removed, it CANNOT be undone in most cases. Continue?
There will be a public Identity instance in the future, which means that people will trust a team of volunteers and a donor-backed project to store their most precious information. In order to maximize the chances of a public Identity instance working out in the long term, we should improve things like server cost and maintenance burden.
The MVP server has been developed hastily, which means that it is neither complete nor production-ready. Work on a new server will start in the near future, which means that certain technical decisions must be made that will impact the aforementioned factors (database software, storage mediums, etc).
Before developing the new server, we should start researching which databases, server implementations, backup strategies, etc. will balance server cost and maintenance burden. This is also related to #4: the chances of a public instance working out are directly linked to the moderation efforts required.
